Calder Future volunteers have been out and about, controlling the invasive Himalayan balsam at various locations, such as in the old mill goit at Tipside, Todmorden – see the calendar for TRIG’s next event there – and we have also been getting dirty in the river channel.

We did a sweep of the river bank at Sowerby Bridge with the Halifax Canoe Club – unfortunately the river was too high to get onto the weir, but we still accumulated a pile of rubbish from the more accessible areas:

Eastwood residents came out for the annual clean-up of the river, this time we went a little further upstream to a point where a lot of textile and metal debris had accumulated – including the usual rusty old bike and even a commode chair.
