There are several opportunities to get involved in cleaning up your section of river as part of Calder Future’s ‘River Day’ events in June.

On Saturday 3rd June there is a clean-up in Sowerby Bridge where the River Calder meets the River Ryburn – meet under the railway bridge (by the taxi cabin) off Station Road at 10 am to help the Halifax Canoe Club clean up their riverside site.

Then on Sunday 4th June the Eastwood Residents are in action – meet at 10:30am by the Masonic Lodge (top of Stoodley Glen by Halifax Road OL14 6DN) to spend a few hours clearing litter and getting rid of the invasive Himalayan balsam.

The following weekend on Saturday 10th June there is a clean-up in Todmorden – the Todmorden Riverside Improvement Group (TRIG)  hold activities to improve a riverside site known as Tipside in the centre of town. Their activity starts at 2pm – meet at the entrance to Tipside behind Todmorden Market Hall.
